Cordy Spagyric in 50mL lightproof anti-drip infinity bottle
15 drops, 2-3x per day
One of MushroomLife’s most potent products is extracted from fruiting bodies of the entemopathogenic fungus Cordyceps militaris. Our Cordy Spagyric contains a wealth of vitamins and minerals. Additionally, this powerhouse fungus features a unique active ingredient, cordycepin, a novel natural product only found in Cordyceps mushrooms.
Typically, it is our policy at Mushroomlife to only use wild fruit bodies in the production of our extracts, harvested at their prime directly from nature. However, the Cordy Spagyric is our ONE-AND-ONLY extract that does not use wild-harvested mushrooms as starting materials, since large quantities of fruit bodies cannot be sourced from local wild spaces. Although we don’t use wild-grown Cordyceps, we do use wild-sourced cultures. We at MushroomLife develop our Cordyceps militaris cultures from specimens that we hand-collect locally in the wild. The very same Cordyceps cultures we have created are available on mushroomlife.com. MushroomLife’s strains are now used in all of North America’s leading Cordyceps cultivation farms, and grown under certified organic standards. We use our strains of Cordyceps mushrooms grown under certified organic standards, and extract the active principles using our proprietary spagyric methodologies. Our Cordy Spagyric is gluten free and suitable for vegans; no insects were harmed in the production process.
Mushrooms typically contain components that are water-soluble, mainly long chain polysaccharides called beta-glucans. Mushrooms also contain compounds that are alcohol-soluble, such as terpenoids and other non-polar secondary metabolites. Typically, purveyors of mushroom extracts stop when they obtain the ‘dual’ water/alcohol portions. At MushroomLife this dual fraction is only the start of our extracts. We also produce a 3-part spagyric that is then added to the dual-fraction base.
What is a spagyric? In short, a spagyric is an alchemically-produced elixir. The roots of the word ‘Spagyric’ loosely mean ‘Spao’ to extract, draw out, isolate, or divide… and ‘ageiro’ to recombine, gather, bring together, or reunite. In alchemical philosophy the practitioner realizes all things in nature/reality are alive and have three basic principles, fractions that cannot be further simplified. These three are the salt (the body in ancient terms, the mineral salts in modern terms), the sulfur (the soul, the essential oils), and the mercury (the spirit, the volatile aromatics and alcohol of that associated kingdom).
In the art of alchemy there are many ways to paint the picture of your masterpiece. Some simple practitioners will make a tincture, filter the herb off and then burn it to add the ash back to the tincture. Technically this is a spagyric, albeit the simplest form of such, its still a step more powerful then a standard tincture or dual extract. Others may actually whiten the ash of the herb and dissolve that in a solvent, to then filter, and evaporate off to obtain the salt crystals, and add that to a tincture. MushroomLife goes through a few more steps, isolating each principle through the application of the timeless alchemical operations of digestion, separation, distillation, coagulation, fermentation, calcination, crystallization, dissolution, and cohobation. If we really took our time (many moons), with these 3 principles a “lesser stone” or “1st order stone” could potentially be made from these and then cast into a solid. While still being a powerful medicinal extract, this would not have the immunomodulatory effects of a standard dual extract. Hence why we combine both methods to obtain the best of both worlds.
Why go through all this you might ask? As we do the work, the work changes us. Operations performed in the laboratory to create the spagyrics are reflective of the phases, energies, and cyclic nature of life that we all experience. As within so without. As above so below. We are always grateful for the opportunity to have new insight shed upon these layers of consciousness. Chemically speaking however, the mineral salts neutralize the organic acids of the mushroom found in the non-polar/sulfur principle. This converts the acids to ester form, yielding soapy compounds, more readily dissolved and with less stubborn precipitation, and more even administration. What was once oil soluble is now water soluble. What was once fixed, is now volatile, an alchemical transformation in a nutshell.
Traditional tinctures are effective for 6-12 hours. Dual extracts are typically active over 12-24 hours. Yet, spagyrics have been shown to stay effective for up to 72 hours in the body.* And MushroomLife’s Spagyrics are shelf stable indefinitely when stored in our lightproof infinity bottles.
